Diseases that may be associated with headaches in children

Khaberni - Dr. Galina Nevriuzina, a neurology specialist, reports that headaches in children are one of the reasons that require consulting a neurologist. She says, "Currently, there are descriptions of hundreds of types of headaches, but parents and children often try to control them on their own using pain relievers. They only consult a doctor when the episodes become frequent and do not respond to conventional treatment."

The doctor confirms that recurrent headaches are often a sign of an underlying medical condition, and require a specialized medical diagnosis. Headache episodes may accompany intoxication from infection and inflammation, nasopharyngeal infections, circulatory disorders related to cervical spine problems, infectious brain diseases, and autonomic vascular dysfunction, which is a common cause of these symptoms in adolescents.

According to her, there are symptoms that require immediate medical attention, such as the feeling of sudden sharp pain, loss of consciousness, seizures, visual and sensory disturbances, temperature rise, and increased severity of episodes.

The doctor warns that self-medication and the use of folk remedies may obscure the clinical picture and complicate the diagnosis. She points out that modern diagnostic methods allow identification of the cause of headaches in a timely manner and the selection of effective treatment.
