What did AlBadoor do in the Ministry of Health

Khaberni - The Minister of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor, made several decisions that serve the citizen and the health sector, which helped alleviate many problems concerning waiting times and medical procedures, followed by the most significant decisions:

Heart Attacks

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor decided to implement a standardized protocol for treating acute heart attacks using cardiac catheterization starting from February 1, 2026, in the Ministry of Health's hospitals.

The decision included bolstering hospitals equipped for therapeutic cardiac interventions, such as: Al-Bashir, Prince Hamza, Hussein/New Al-Salt, Zarqa, Karak, Tafilah, Princess Basma, and King Abdallah Founder hospitals, with technical staff on duty around the clock and throughout the week.

Also, the Minister decided to connect the rest of the ministry’s hospitals to these specialized centers for direct emergency case transfers, ensuring the application of approved and standardized treatment protocols for all patients.

This directive is part of the ministry's plan to enhance the quality of medical services, standardize treatment protocols for heart and brain strokes, and improve life-saving opportunities and reduce health complications.

Mammogram Images

Minister Ibrahim Al-Badoor directed to reduce the long waiting lists for mammography (breast imaging) to no longer than three weeks, after reaching more than 12 months in some cases.

The plan included distributing imaging services to three main sites: Al-Bashir Hospital (for diagnostic cases), Dr. Jamil Tutunji Hospital, and Amman Comprehensive Health Center (for periodic screening examinations), to ensure faster procedures and relieve pressure on central hospitals.

Also, Al-Badoor decided to activate the Unified National Reading Center to analyze images, organize the referral mechanism and scheduling, in addition to purchasing services from radiology specialists when needed.

The Minister affirmed that these measures aim to speed up the diagnosis of cases needing biopsies, and to ensure the sustainability of the service with equality and efficiency.

Drug Prices

Minister of Health Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor launched a new organizational plan for dispensing monthly and daily medications to reduce congestion at pharmacies, particularly in the capital Amman.

According to the plan, the timeframe from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM has been allocated for dispensing monthly medications at Al-Bashir and Tutunji hospitals, and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at health centers, while the morning period has been reserved for daily prescriptions.

The Minister also directed activating the drug dispensation through the "Hakeemi" app, to deliver the medicine to patients' homes for a nominal fee, with volunteers available to assist patients in using the app.

Al-Badoor mentioned that lowering drug prices is a priority, even though pricing authority rests with the General Food and Drug Administration, which has already reduced prices for several items, within a formula that guarantees the rights of the manufacturer, the importer, and the patient.

Comprehensive Centers

Dr. Al-Badoor affirmed the importance of comprehensive health centers by describing them as the primary gateway for a patient to receive treatment, and decided to extend working hours for these centers that are close to major hospitals, to reduce pressure on emergency departments.

He mentioned that a large percentage of cases that visit the emergency can be treated at centers, such as cases of colds and muscle pains, noting that Al-Bashir Hospital's emergency department alone receives about 3,000 cases daily.

The decision aims to accelerate the provision of services, reduce congestion, and improve the patient experience in emergency departments.

Prince Hamza Hospital

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor directed solving the overcrowding issue in the emergency department of Prince Hamza Hospital, through department expansion, and utilizing Amman Field Hospital to distribute the pressure.

This came during a surprise nighttime visit to the hospital, during which he reviewed the reality of services and the quality of care and listened to the comments of patients and their families, and directed immediate action to address challenges.

Al-Badoor confirmed that surprise visits will continue as a method for monitoring and enhancing the level of health service, in line with the Prime Minister's directives.

Hospital Automation

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor announced that all hospitals and health centers under the ministry will be fully automated by mid-2026, as part of the digital transformation of the health sector.

He also revealed the addition of 7 new hospitals to the "Virtual Hospital," indicating that automation would enhance the efficiency of drug distribution and the quality of medical services.

Drug Delivery

Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badoor launched a plan to activate the service of delivering chronic medications to patients’ homes using the "Hakeemi" app, with the goal of reducing congestion at pharmacy windows in hospitals and health centers.

The decision came after a study showed that 50% of pharmacy visitors are those with monthly prescriptions, and that peak times are between 8 AM and 1 PM.
