Khaberni - Real Madrid concluded its journey in the first round of the UEFA Champions League by falling away at the hands of Benfica (2-4), on Wednesday, in the eighth round of the competition.
Benfica's goals were scored by Andreas Schjelderup "a brace", Vangelis Pavlidis, and the goalkeeper Trubin in the minutes 36, 45+5, 54 and 90+8, while Kylian Mbappe scored a brace for Real (min 30 and 58).
Due to this loss and the results of the other matches, the royal team failed to qualify directly to the last 16, shifting to the play-offs for the second consecutive season after dropping to the ninth position with 15 points, while Benfica snatched the last play-off spot thanks to a last-second goal reaching the ninth point in the 24th position.
These results might put the two teams against each other again in the play-offs.
