Khaberni - English Liverpool crushed its Azerbaijani guest Qarabag (6-0), today Wednesday at Anfield, at the end of the first round of the UEFA Champions League.
With this result, the Reds took third place in the first round standings, with 18 points, seizing the spot previously held by Spanish Real Madrid before this round, which fell to the ninth position at the end of the round.
The first goal for Liverpool against Qarabag came through the Argentine midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, in the 15th minute, assisted by his Dutch teammate Virgil van Dijk.
At the 21st minute, German international Florian Wirtz took advantage of a ball he received from French striker Hugo Ekitike, to sprint and score the second goal for the Reds.
Then came the turn of the Egyptian Pharaoh, Mohamed Salah, in the 50th minute, to break his long scoring drought with Liverpool (since November 1st last year), by scoring the third goal in the match, with a powerful shot from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.
Mohamed Salah also enhanced his place among the legends of the UEFA Champions League, as he became the 11th top scorer in the history of the competition, reaching goal number 49.
With this number, the Liverpool star surpassed the legends, Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko (48 goals each).
In the 57th minute, Ekitike scored the fourth goal for the Reds, before Mac Allister added his second and the fifth for his team, in the 61st minute.
The Italian substitute star, Federico Chiesa, concluded the scoring festival for the hosts in the 90th minute, by netting the sixth goal against Qarabag.
