Khaberni - Munib Tashman, the director of the Queen Rania Center for Educational Technology and Information, said that artificial intelligence is considered both a science and a skill at the same time, emphasizing that skill is the most important in the field of artificial intelligence, not just theoretical learning.
Tashman added via the "Sound of the Kingdom" program that digital curricula were taught last year to students in the 7th, 9th, and 11th grades, while this year they will be taught to students in the 8th, 10th, and 12th grades, indicating that digital activities were provided for students from the 1st to the 6th grades.
He explained that the digital curricula include units on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and programming, in addition to general information about computers.
He pointed out that the smart assistant "Siraj" is currently being used by about 200,000 users including students, teachers, and parents via the app, noting that the goal is to generalize the experience of "Siraj" on a wider scale.
He mentioned that 30% of teachers use the Siraj educational platform, and that about 60,000 teachers have been trained since last October.
Tashman confirmed that all curricula will be digitized, explaining that the digital curricula have started, and it will gradually expand to include other curricula.
He added that work is ongoing to develop internet services and provide computers in schools, with implementation beginning in the upper grades of secondary education, emphasizing that the General Secondary Education Certificate Exam (Tawjihi) will be transformed into a digital exam.
He concluded by saying that the process of digitizing the curricula is still ongoing, explaining that the Ministry of Education is working on fully digitizing the curricula, without the possibility of determining a final date for completing this process at the current time.
The Ministry of Education has launched the smart educational assistant "Siraj," one of the initiatives of the National Council for Future Technology, on a trial basis, which is considered an educational tool supported by artificial intelligence.
The launch of "Siraj" aligns with the directives of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, to use artificial intelligence in education and harness technology to serve the citizens.
