National Revolution to Eradicate the Scourge of Drugs from its Roots
Author: الدكتور زيد احمد المحيسن

Drugs are a complex scourge that threatens human health and the safety of society, as they do not discriminate between young or old, male or female, child or adult, man or woman, and strike in all directions to disrupt families, damage minds, and lead souls astray. Therefore, protecting the generations of Jordan from this scourge requires a true national revolution, with participation from everyone, from the state and official institutions to families and civil society, through concerted efforts and continuous action.
Internal security approaches and border control are cornerstones in combating this scourge, as they curb drug smuggling and block paths for smugglers, promoters, and manufacturers, while national legislation plays a crucial deterrent role by increasing penalties for those who contribute to the spread of these destructive substances. However, confronting drugs is not limited to security and law alone; it also requires the religious, moral, and ethical motives that instill in the youth a sense of responsibility and belonging, steering them away from deviance, and affirming that preserving oneself, body, and mind is both a national and moral duty.
Awareness and education programs support these efforts, whether through schools that hold educational and protective awareness programs, or through the Ministry of Culture that spreads awareness through its initiatives, or through media and digital means that have become effective tools in shaping public opinion. Mosques and churches play a central role in instilling sound values, and universities, intellectual, cultural forums, community associations, intellectuals, and writers all play a prominent role in raising awareness, guiding youth towards the right path, and steering clear of this scourge.
This national battle requires every individual in Jordan to roll up their sleeves and be part of this collective effort, as protecting generations is a responsibility of every home, school, university, and cultural, religious, and media institution. Cooperation and coordination among these different entities is the only way to make Jordan a drug-free society, ensuring a safe environment for children and youth to develop their minds, fortify their souls, and build their characters on sound moral values.
Eradicating the drug scourge from its roots is not a distant dream but a true national mission that starts with collective will, requiring patience and long-term planning, but it is the only result that preserves the present and future of Jordan, and confirms that the nation can be a safe fortress for all its generations, away from anything that threatens human health and spreads chaos and deviance in society.
