Khaberni - Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya confirmed that the ministry's approach is based on reducing the number of detainees in prisons, but not at the expense of justice.
Al-Faraya said during a meeting in the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, that there is overcrowding inside the prisons and we have no desire to increase the number of inmates.
He added that the security matrix related to administrative ruling reassignments is not binding for the administrative governor and is only a guidance manual for the security center.
Al-Faraya pointed out that the authority to administratively detain someone belongs to the administrative governor and the governor can release the person on a financial bail or if reconciliation takes place among the parties involved.
He explained that administrative detention is used to restrict criminal activity of dangerous individuals or to protect persons in case of a conflict.
