Alzheimers Prevention Delicious Food that Reduces Risks

Khaberni - A French doctor revealed that some common foods may contribute to protecting the brain and reducing the risk of Alzheimer's, according to long-term studies on nutrition and memory health.

The French doctor, Jimmy Mohamed, working at the University of Paris Diderot, during his guest appearance on French "RTL" radio, explained that some delicious foods might play an unexpected role in protecting the brain and preventing Alzheimer's disease and some forms of dementia.

The doctor explained that Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative neurological disorder that gradually affects the brain, leading to permanent loss of cognitive abilities such as memory, thinking, language, and spatial orientation.

The disease mostly appears after the age of sixty-five, although there are early cases, and with the increasing rates of aging in societies, Alzheimer's has become a widespread and significant public health challenge.

Despite not having found a definitive cure to date, scientific studies suggest that lifestyle can affect the likelihood of developing the disease, including physical activity, mental stimulation, sleep quality, and diet.

Dr. Jimmy Mohamed pointed out that recent research has focused on the relationship between certain foods and brain health, and one of the most notable findings is that cheese, often criticized for its fat content, might have a protective effect when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet, giving nutritional enjoyment an additional health dimension.

The Swedish study
According to Mohamed, researchers conducted a long-term study spanning 25 years, involving participants from Sweden in their sixties, where their dietary patterns were analyzed over the years.

The results showed that people who regularly ate cheese were less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia, including vascular dementia linked to impaired brain blood supply.

The doctor elaborated that vascular dementia arises from small, imperceptible brain clots that result in reduced delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the brain, causing gradual destruction of nerve cells.

He emphasized that consuming certain foods, like cheese, may offer unexpected protection against these disease mechanisms.

In this regard, cheese reintroduces itself not only as a beloved food but also as a nutritional element that may contribute to supporting brain health and reducing the risks of dementia with aging, within a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
