Electronic Scam Targeting the Mother of a Brazilian Star

Khaberni -  The mother of former Brazilian star Adriano was targeted by an electronic scam via WhatsApp, after someone impersonated the player and convinced her to transfer an amount of approximately 15,000 Brazilian reals, equivalent to about 3,000 US dollars, into his own account.

The Ataque Futbolero account posted a video on X in which the former Brazil national team star speaks, indicating that the scammer exploited Adriano's name and image to deceive his mother into believing he was facing an emergency situation, before she carried out the transfer, only to later discover that she had fallen victim to a digital fraud scheme, highlighting the risks of cybercrimes targeting families of celebrities.
Following the incident, Adriano issued a stern warning message, urging everyone to be cautious of any attempts to impersonate him, affirming that he had not changed his phone number, and that any monetary requests do not come from him. He also emphasized that what happened was a severe encroachment because it targeted his mother.

Adriano clarified in his message that targeting the family is absolutely unacceptable, demanding the impersonator to return the money immediately, and noting that he would take necessary actions to pursue him, should the situation not be remedied within the timeframe hinted at in the message, where he gave the scammer 24 hours, threatening that his acquaintances would not recognize him if he did not return the money.

This incident occurs amid increasing cases of digital fraud in Brazil, especially those that involve impersonating public figures through messaging apps, prompting many past and present stars to warn their fans and families not to respond to any suspicious requests, no matter how realistic they may appear.
