AntiDrug Director Drug case numbers drop 13 in 2025 compared to 2024

Khaberni - The director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, Hassan Al-Qudah, mentioned that the lack of security in some neighboring countries has contributed to the influx of drugs to Jordan, considering it a transit route for these materials.

Al-Qudah, speaking on "Voice of the Kingdom" Tuesday evening, said that the number of drug cases seized during the past year was 22,031 cases, recording a decrease of 13 percent compared to 2024, emphasizing that this decline is due to the enhanced security strategy in combating drugs.

He added that the competent authorities conduct daily raids on dens of drug promoters and smugglers, within continuous efforts to curb their spread and protect society.

Al-Qudah pointed to a study by the Criminal Research on previous years that examined 600 murder cases in Jordan, revealing that only three crimes were committed by individuals under the influence of drugs.

He highlighted the phenomenon of drug abuse in the kingdom, asserting "it cannot be denied."

Al-Qudah noted that 846 individuals were treated for drug addiction last year.

He considered that drug addicts cannot be treated at home by their relatives, emphasizing the importance of treating addicts in specialized health centers followed by subsequent care.
