Drilling 270 Rainwater Collection Wells in Madaba

Khaberni - Bassam Abu Al-Ghanam, the director of agriculture in Madaba Governorate, stated that the Ministry of Agriculture dug 270 rainwater collection wells in the governorate last year, valued at 411 thousand dinars, as part of the ministry's policy to expand the drilling of wells and irrigation channels for better utilization of rainwater and its use in home farming, thereby enhancing food security.

He added that the ministry is continuing the project this year, with 100 thousand dinars allocated from the governorate council's budget for the expansion of drilling water collection wells according to approved standards.

He clarified that the ministry implemented projects related to women's development and the dairy and cheese industries, and the construction of greenhouses in Madaba valued at 141 thousand dinars. About 100 citizens from Kasbah and Deiban benefitted from it, in addition to projects for irrigation channels for farmers valued at 10 thousand dinars.

Abu Al-Ghanam explained that last year the ministry carried out 6 reforestation projects in Siyaga, Al-Arish, Al-Faisaliyah, Mount Nebo, Ma'in, and Ma'in pastures, covering an area of 430 dunams, where approximately 3700 forest trees were planted, in addition to 6000 grazing trees (pasture plants), with ongoing care and maintenance.
