Minister of Public Works Inspects Flood Damage Mitigation Projects in the Dead Sea and Karak

Khaberni  - Maher Abu Al-Summan, the Minister of Public Works and Housing, conducted an extensive field tour on Tuesday, including several vital work sites in the Dead Sea area and Karak Governorate, to monitor the progress of projects addressing flood damages and protecting water facilities and developing the main road network.

The minister started his tour by inspecting a series of vital bridges in the Dead Sea area, where he reviewed the ongoing protection works for the "Zarqa Ma'in" bridge, which include the implementation of concrete barriers and protections for bridge entries and exits to address erosion caused by water flow. He also followed up on reinforcement works at the "Mujib Bridge" and "Ghor Al-Mazra'a Culvert" using rubble and concrete. At the "Wadi Shaqiq Bridge", the minister examined the work of redirecting the stream to guide water towards the entrances and implementing extensive protections including gabion and concrete works to address side erosion.

In the "Namira" area on the Wadi Araba road, Abu Al-Summan monitored the implementation of protection works for the existing culvert outlet, in addition to a project to construct a new box culvert with 10 openings measuring (3*3) meters, which also includes the reconstruction of the existing road over 180 meters long to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow during the rainy seasons.

During his visit to the "Sarfa-Al Ghor" road project, which is 18 kilometers long, Abu Al-Summan emphasized the importance of completing the last phase of the project, which has reached 85% completion. He pointed out that this road, which had a total cost of 11 million dinars and is divided into three phases, serves as a vital artery linking the north of Karak to the Al-Ghor area, and aims primarily to enhance commercial and agricultural movement in the region.
