Khaberni - Writer Zaid Al-Momani addressed a message to the Mayor of Amman, Yousuf Al-Shawarbah, discussing the domestic gas distribution service and the noise it causes in residential neighborhoods.
Al-Momani pointed out the nuisance caused by the current distribution method to residents, especially the elderly, the sick, and children.
He explained that the current distribution process is unorganized, leading to several vehicles passing through the same street within a single hour.
Al-Momani called for limiting roaming times to specific hours (for example, from 9 AM to 6 PM), controlling the volume of loudspeakers, and supporting the digital transformation by encouraging agencies to adopt smart ordering systems and regulating random roaming.
Following is the text of Al-Momani's letter:

His Excellency the Honorable Mayor of Amman,
Writer Zaid Al-Momani
Subject: Proposal to regulate the domestic gas distribution service and reduce noise in residential neighborhoods
Greetings,
Firstly, we appreciate the ongoing efforts of the Greater Amman Municipality in developing the capital and enhancing the quality of life there, and improving the services provided to citizens in line with the vision of modernization that the Kingdom is witnessing.
Referring to the subject above, we would like to present a proposal concerning the operation of household gas distribution vehicles.
Despite our full appreciation for the vital role played by agency owners and distributors in meeting household needs, the current method has become a source of auditory pollution and a constant nuisance, necessitating a modern regulatory review for the following reasons:
Firstly: The negative impact on public serenity
The reliance on loudspeakers at very high levels is no longer suitable for the sanctity of residential areas, causing disruption and deprivation of rest for sensitive community groups, including:
-The elderly and sick: Who are in dire need of quiet and peace.
-Children and infants: Where these high noises disrupt their sleep and development cycles.
-Shift workers: Who spend their daytime hours resting after strenuous night shifts.
Secondly: Lack of timely coordination and duplication
Recently, we've noticed randomness in roaming times, with some vehicles starting as early as dawn and others continuing until after 9 PM. Moreover, the unregulated competition has led to more than 4 to 5 vehicles passing through the same street within an hour, unnecessarily intensifying the noise level.
Thirdly: Digital transformation and smart solutions (Vision 2026)
As we are in the year 2026, with the state's orientation towards "smart cities" and reliance on technology, it has become very easy to surpass traditional annoying methods. The availability of smart delivery apps and online ordering services, along with direct communication via phone, makes "calling through loudspeakers" a primitive method that no longer meets the requirements of the age.
Proposals and recommendations:
Based on the above, we kindly request your attention to implement regulatory controls including:
- Limiting roaming times: Set specific and logical hours for gas distribution (for example, from 9 AM to 6 PM).
- Controlling sound levels: Establish technical standards for the "decibel" level emitted by loudspeakers to ensure it does not penetrate homes annoyingly.
- Supporting digital transition: Encourage agencies to adopt smart ordering systems and regulate random roaming, contributing to reducing carbon emissions and minimizing traffic congestion within neighborhoods.
We place this proposal in your hands, confident in your continuous concern for the comfort of the citizens and the beauty of the capital, Amman.
Please accept the utmost respect and appreciation,
