Fidan Meets Hamas Delegation to Discuss Second Phase of Gaza Agreement

Khaberni - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a meeting with a delegation from the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) yesterday, Monday, in the capital, Ankara, during which they discussed developments related to the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza and the humanitarian situation, in addition to discussing other regional affairs.

Sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry mentioned that Fidan provided the Hamas delegation led by Khalil Al-Hayya, a member of the movement's political bureau, with information about the diplomatic contacts Turkey is making, especially through the Peace Council, aiming to defend the rights of the people of Gaza, insisting on the determination to deliver the necessary humanitarian aid to the sector.

Fidan emphasized that Turkey will continue its efforts firmly to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

On Monday, the Israeli army found the body of the last prisoner in the Gaza Strip, policeman Ran Goueli, thus ending the first phase of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect last October under the plan by U.S. President Donald Trump.

In mid-January of this month, Trump announced the start of the second phase of the Gaza agreement, as part of his 20-point plan to end the war in the sector, which was adopted by the UN Security Council with its resolution 2803 issued on November 17, 2025.

The agreement, which came into effect on October 10, ended a genocide begun by Israel on October 8, 2023, lasting two years, resulting in more than 71,000 Palestinian martyrs and over 171,000 wounded, as well as tremendous destruction affecting 90% of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about 70 billion dollars.
