Israel will not allow foreign journalists to enter Gaza after the anticipated opening of the Rafah crossing

Khaberni - The Israeli occupation government stated that it will not allow foreign journalists to enter Gaza even after the anticipated opening of the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the territory.

This was during a court session against the backdrop of a petition submitted by the Foreign Press Association (FPA) in Israel demanding access for journalists to Gaza, while the judges decided to delay the ruling on the case to a later time.

The newspaper "Haaretz" reported that the Israeli government representative "informed the Supreme Court (the highest judicial body) that the entry of foreign journalists to Gaza will not be permitted due to security risks," according to him.

The court discussed, on Monday, a petition submitted by the Foreign Press Association in Israel (FPA) demanding access for journalists to the Gaza Strip.

The petition was submitted a year and four months ago, yet the court repeatedly agreed to the state's requests to delay responding to it. This is the second petition submitted in this matter, following the rejection of the first petition immediately after the war began, according to the same source.

Lawyer Gilad Sher, representing the Foreign Press Association, said at the beginning of the session: "We are two years after the outbreak of the war, and 16 months after the petition was submitted, and three months after a significant change in the situation in the Gaza Strip, yet throughout this period the state has not changed its stance, and there are still comprehensive restrictions."

He added that the petitioners represent about 400 journalists from more than 130 media outlets from around 30 countries, broadcasting in about 10 different languages, reaching hundreds of millions if not billions of people around the world."
