The cause of severe headache may not be from the head Other impactful reasons

Khaberni - Dr. Nikita Sherstobitov, a neurology specialist, explained that severe headaches do not always stem from vascular issues or high blood pressure, but may result from muscle spasm.
The doctor points out that the source of the pain often is not in the head itself, but in the neck, shoulders, and upper chest area. He adds:
"Tension in the muscles of the neck, shoulders, and chest, along with a loss of flexibility in the fascia, can literally pull on the head, causing severe and exhausting pain."

He confirms that this type of pain often affects individuals who work in office jobs, experience high stress, and sit in one position for extended periods. In these cases, pain relievers have a weak or short-term effect because they do not address the root cause. Therefore, non-medical methods are considered more effective, particularly muscular fascia release, which is a gentle massage of the muscles and fascia to relieve tension and restore tissue elasticity.
He adds: "Muscular fascia release helps to alleviate congestion in the affected areas, improve circulation, and reduce pressure on the nerve structures, leading to a decrease in pain severity and overall improvement in condition."

The doctor also points out that simple self-help techniques can make a significant difference, such as gentle massage of the collar area using a tennis ball, or relaxing the muscles at the back of the head while lying down and focusing on calm breathing.

He concludes by stressing that recurring headaches are a valid reason to visit a doctor and undergo examination, and not to settle for symptomatic treatment. He says: "If the pain recurs, it's a signal from the body that it is overtaxed. Ignoring this means pushing the problem deeper."
