Khaberni - Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Foreign Minister, confirmed that Saudi relations with the UAE are important for regional stability, pointing out the importance of having a strong and positive relationship with the UAE.
At a press conference held with his Polish counterpart, Radoslaw Sikorski, in Poland, on Monday, Prince Faisal bin Farhan clarified that there are differences in visions with the UAE regarding Yemen, stating, "The UAE has decided to completely withdraw from Yemen, and I believe this is essential for maintaining strong relations with the UAE".
Previously, Riyadh emphasized the importance of the UAE’s response to Yemen's request for the withdrawal of its military forces from Yemeni territory and the cessation of any military or financial support to any party within Yemen. Following the statement from Saudi Arabia, the UAE announced that, "Given the recent developments and their potential implications on the safety and effectiveness of anti-terrorism tasks, the Ministry of Defense declares the termination of the remaining counter-terrorism squads in Yemen at its own discretion, ensuring the safety of its elements, and in coordination with the relevant partners."
In the meantime, Saudi Arabia expressed its regret over the UAE’s pressure on the forces of the Southern Transitional Council to push its forces to carry out military operations on the southern borders of the Kingdom in Hadramout and Al Mahrah provinces, which pose a threat to national security, and security and stability in the Yemeni Republic and the region, and indicates that the steps taken by the UAE are extremely dangerous, and do not align with the principles upon which the coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen was founded, and do not serve its efforts to achieve the security and stability of Yemen.
The Kingdom also expressed its hope that the UAE would take the hoped-for steps to preserve the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, which Saudi Arabia is keen to enhance, and the joint work towards everything that would promote the prosperity and stability of the region's countries.
