Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated on Monday evening that the Anti-Narcotics Directorate managed to seize a huge shipment of liquid cocaine at the Latakia port, which arrived on a ship from Brazil, and was cunningly hidden inside vegetable oil cans as part of a complex smuggling attempt to one of the neighboring countries.
The ministry continued that the operation was based on precise and reliable intelligence information, followed by meticulous field surveillance which resulted in the seizure of the entire shipment before it left the port.
The ministry added that the seized items were confiscated and that the specialized security teams continue to investigate the circumstances of the case to identify all those involved, with the aim of taking deterring legal actions against them, in accordance with relevant national and international laws.
The Syrian Anti-Narcotics Directorate indicates that this operation is part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling networks, maintain public security, and prevent the infiltration of narcotics into local and international markets.
