Khaberni - An unemployed Egyptian man (22 years old) used the internet to turn the lives of his victims into a real nightmare. The young man «Mahmoud E.M» created a fake account named «Sheikha Amira the Egyptian», and lured women with the illusion of his ability to cure using the Holy Quran, before asking them for personal photos.
After obtaining the photos, he would then begin extorting them financially and threatening to publish the photos on social media, which provoked a state of panic among the victims.
After receiving several official complaints from women who were extorted by «Sheikha Amira the Egyptian», the Egyptian Ministry of Interior began investigations by the Administration of Combating Account Crimes and Information Technology, which revealed the identity of the accused and led to his arrest in his hometown, Nawawra village in Badari center, Assiut.
When confronted, the accused confessed to all the events, affirming his exploitation of the victims' trust and deceiving them online, before extorting money from them.
Today (Monday), the Assiut Criminal Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, serving as a stern message to all who believe the internet is a safe place for extortion and deceit.
