Egyptian Court Punishes Hadir Abdel Razek and Her ExHusband Otaka

Khaberni - The Egyptian Economic Court, on Monday, sentenced blogger Hadir Abdel Razek and her ex-husband, TikToker «Otaka», to 3 years of imprisonment. They were also fined 100,000 Egyptian pounds after being convicted of broadcasting visual clips offensive to public decency.

Egyptian local media outlets clarified the accusations faced by the defendants in court, which included broadcasting visual content that was inappropriate, with the intention of seduction and insulting public decency, in addition to publishing those materials over the information network allowing the public to access them, and assaulting the commonly recognized family values and principles within the society.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution affirmed that the defendants deliberately published videos offensive to public decency on the internet, containing direct implications intended for seduction, considering this behavior a clear violation of prevailing family values and principles.

Investigations revealed that Hadir Abdel Razek and «Otaka» broadcasted inappropriate content over the information network openly, which led the prosecution to decisively charge them, referring them to criminal trial with clear charges of assaulting public morals.

Local media outlets again detailed the accusations faced by the defendants, which consisted of broadcasting visual clips with inappropriate content intended for seduction and offending public decency, publishing those materials on the internet to make them accessible to everyone, in addition to assaulting commonly recognized family values and principles.

According to the investigations, it was proven that the defendants broadcasted and published indecent visual clips via the information network, in a clear violation of ethical standards and family values, which established the basis for the conviction issued against them.

In a previous case related to broadcasting indecent visual clips, the Economic Court had earlier upheld a one-year imprisonment sentence for Hadir Abdul Razek. The court also sentenced «Otaka» to six months in prison and fined him one million Egyptian pounds on charges including broadcasting indecent clips, inciting debauchery, misusing social networking sites, in addition to other charges concerning money laundering and possession of narcotics, with a subsequent session scheduled to consider the appeal filed against the judgment issued against him.
