Acquittal of Sherine Abdel Wahab from the charge of insulting and slandering her account manager

Khaberni - The Egyptian Economic Misdemeanor Appeals Court ruled on Monday to acquit singer Sherine Abdel Wahab of the charges attributed to her of insulting and slandering her social media page manager, following the consideration of the appeal filed against the judgement issued in the case.

Yasser Kantoush, a cassation lawyer defending singer Sherine Abdel Wahab, had obtained an acquittal for his client in the case where she was accused of insulting and slandering her page manager, based on previous disputes related to the passwords of her social media accounts.

Despite the public prosecution's challenge to the verdict, the Economic Misdemeanor Appeals Court, in its session held today, upheld the acquittal verdict in favor of the singer.

Previously, the manager of singer and performer Sherine Abdel Wahab's page had filed a report at the police department of Second Sheikh Zayed of the Giza Security Directorate, accusing Sherine Abdel Wahab of insulting and threatening him, based on a dispute that arose between them concerning the passwords of her electronic accounts.

Likewise, the head of the investigations of the Second Sheikh Zayed police station at the Giza Security Directorate, later received a report filed by a lawyer acting on behalf of Mahmoud Mohamed, the official accounts manager for singer Sherine Abdel Wahab on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram platforms, stating that his client was subjected to insults, defamation, and threats of harm.
