Drugs Their Effects Dangers and Leniency in Punishment
Author: رامي المشاقبة

Recently, we have witnessed horrendous crimes and disgusting behaviors that we were unaccustomed to in our country and society, which was once a paragon of values, principles, and commendable morals.

This primarily stems from drug abuse and its effect on the human mind, along with associated crimes like murder and rape, negative behavioral changes, deviance, and perversion.

Among the reasons for the fall of societies, their disintegration, and the increase in crimes are the shifting of concepts and ideas, the decline of values, claims of absolute freedom, weak laws, and the absence of proper awareness, all of which drive people towards absolute corruption and leniency in everything without any deterrent or moral compunction.

Therefore, we see that the problem is not only confined to the scourge of drugs, and repeating diagnoses under the headings of poverty, unemployment, and other justifications does not address this phenomenon or other deviant behaviors. Instead, it exacerbates societal chaos and corruption with unexpected changes, and lenient laws that have adversely affected society, facilitating and paving the way for crime, drug abuse, and moral corruption in all its forms.

If we are serious about combating this destructive scourge and protecting society and the youth, then the solution begins with intensifying the punishments for drug promoters and dealers, and enforcing the death penalty against them.

Also, not exempting first-time offenders from punishment, as this has been a primary reason for the addiction of many young men and women in universities, schools, and beyond.

Secondly, conducting regular screenings particularly in universities, in government sectors, and mandating it in the private sector, to ensure there is no leniency in the criminal act of drug abuse among teenagers, youth, and students, and to protect society and families from the danger and consequences of this serious scourge.

From here, I extend greetings and appreciation to all the ranks of the brave Anti-Narcotics Department for their efforts and work, and mercy for their heroic martyrs.
