Outage Strikes Gmail and Floods Inboxes with Millions of Spam Messages

Khaberni  - The email service "Gmail", owned by Google, suffered a sudden and widespread technical malfunction that led to the failure of its automatic filtering systems (filters), resulting in a massive flow of spam (Spam) into the main inboxes of millions of users globally.

The crisis began when users detected a flaw in the protection algorithms, as the smart systems failed to classify promotional and fraudulent messages and direct them to their designated folders. Instead, these messages appeared in the primary mail interface, causing frustration and security concerns among users who have relied for years on the accuracy of Google's filters.

Security Concerns and Warnings

Cybersecurity experts warned that this defect is not just an "advertising nuisance" but also opens the door to phishing attacks. The absence of a filtering system means that messages laden with malicious links, which may initially appear as official communications, could significantly increase the risk of personal and financial data breaches.

Google's Response

For its part, Google acknowledged the existence of the malfunction through its service status dashboard, confirming that its engineering team is working on addressing the issue in the classification systems infrastructure. The company explained in a brief statement that the service is beginning to see gradual stabilization, with a commitment to enhancing systems to prevent such technical incidents from recurring.

Meanwhile, specialists urged Gmail users to exercise extreme caution in the coming period, avoid clicking on any links from unknown sources, and recommended using the "Report spam" option manually to help the system quickly regain its efficiency.
