Saudi Arabia Launches the Flying Lab to Enhance Cloud Seeding Efficiency

Khaberni -   Engineered by Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the latest Saudi innovation in the field of weather and climate research, represented by the flying lab, aims to enhance the efficiency of cloud seeding operations, thus bolstering water sustainability and developing national capabilities in studying atmospheric patterns.
The flying lab functions as an advanced aerial platform, equipped with the latest scientific instruments to monitor atmospheric conditions and composition during cloud passage, and to collect precise data that assists researchers in better understanding cloud formation mechanisms and their enhancement for precipitation.

The project aims to improve cloud seeding efficiency and support climate studies, reflecting the kingdom's commitment to integrating modern technology and scientific research to serve the environment and water resources. This project is part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious programs to develop national capabilities in climate science and achieve environmental sustainability amid challenges of water scarcity, especially in areas relying on limited resources. The inauguration of the flying lab reflects the kingdom’s commitment to scientific innovation and embracing advanced solutions for climate change and sustainable management of natural resources.
