Khaberni - Jordan and Syria are scheduled to sign a gas agreement in the capital Damascus, on Monday.
The agreement will be signed in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, and his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Al-Basheer.
The Syrian Ministry of Energy had previously announced the commencement of receiving natural gas for electricity generation in Syria, as part of a gas purchase agreement via Jordan, with a volume of 4 million cubic meters per day.
The Syrian Energy stated that the agreement comes as part of a gas purchasing contract at an annual cost estimated at about 800 million dollars, as part of a governmental direction to secure stable and sustainable energy sources, and to improve the service provided to citizens.
The Director of Government Communication at the Syrian Ministry of Energy, Ahmad Al-Suleiman, had previously announced the existence of agreements with Jordan for gas supply and cooperation in the field of electricity.
