Lightning Strike Injures Dozens of Bolsonaro Supporters in Brazil

Khaberni  - Dozens of people, including serious cases, were injured by a lightning strike that hit a crowd of the former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s supporters in the capital, Brasilia, according to local sources.

The news website "g1" reported that the group was gathered near the Juscelino Kubitschek memorial on the Memorial Axis, waiting for a march supporting the former president Bolsonaro under heavy rain. The lightning struck the crowd shortly before one o'clock in the afternoon.

The Federal District fire department reported providing medical assistance to at least 72 people, 30 of whom were taken to the hospital, including 8 in serious condition. The fire teams were already present at the location to monitor the demonstration and immediately set up an emergency tent to provide first aid.

Alfredo Santana, one of the attendees, described the scene to the "g1" site saying, "It was chaos. The lightning struck and everyone fell. We didn’t understand what happened at first - people were helping each other to stand up, running everywhere. Firefighters and emergency medical services were already present fortunately, but there were many people falling all at once. The lightning struck right in front of us, very close to a loudspeaker truck."

It is noteworthy that the gathering was part of events supporting Bolsonaro in the Brazilian capital.
