Obama Rings the Alarm Over Minneapolis Events

Khaberni - Former U.S. President Barack Obama described the recent shooting incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as an "alarm bell for every American", and urged federal officials to collaborate with the state.

Obama said in a post on the "X" platform that "the killing of Alex Pretti is a tragic disaster, and it should also be an alarm bell for every American, regardless of their political affiliation, as many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under attack".

The former president condemned the "scene of masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement recruits and other federal agents", saying they "act without restraints, engage in tactics seemingly designed to intimidate, harass, provoke, and endanger the residents of a major American city".

Obama denounced the immigration department's tactics in suppressing and detaining citizens, which resulted in the deaths of two American citizens in January, describing them as "disgraceful, unlawful, and harsh".

Regarding the White House officials’ justification for the killings, Obama said it seems "the president and current administration officials are keen on escalating the situation, while they provide public explanations for the shootings of Mr. Pretti and Renee Good that are not based on any serious investigation, but directly contradict the photographic evidence".

Obama called on the American people to "support and be inspired by the wave of peaceful protests in Minneapolis and other parts of the country", and said it is an opportunity for every citizen to "speak out openly against injustice, protect our fundamental freedoms, and hold our government accountable".

Local leaders and Democrats nationwide demanded the departure of federal immigration enforcement agents from Minnesota, after a border patrol agent shot and killed Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old American nurse, on Saturday, leading to clashes with protesters in a city still in shock from the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good also by federal security agents on the seventh of this month in the same city.

Earlier, California Governor Gavin Newsom called for the dismissal of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Patrol sector chief Greg Bovino, as Senate Democrats threatened to withhold funding from the Homeland Security Department's budget.
