Khaberni - The Israeli news site «Ynet» reported that a session of the Security Cabinet dedicated to discussing the possibility of opening the Rafah Crossing concluded on Sunday evening.
The site quoted a well-informed political source saying that the council decided that the Rafah Crossing would open for the passage of individuals only, not goods, as soon as it is confirmed that organizations in Gaza have made «full efforts» to return the body of the last detainee, Ran Goeli.
The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stated that Israel is conducting a comprehensive operation to find the remains of soldier Ran Goeli, the last detainee in the Gaza Strip.
Under the ceasefire agreement with Israel last October, Hamas handed over all the bodies of Israeli hostages who were killed during their captivity in Gaza, except for the body of Goeli which has not yet been found.
28 hostages died in Israeli attacks that struck the areas they were in during the war that broke out on October 7, 2023, following an attack by Hamas on southern Israel, which resulted in 1200 deaths and more than 250 hostages being taken to the sector.
