Approval of the Mandatory Reasons for the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority Bill

Khaberni - The Cabinet decided in its session held on Sunday, chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, to approve the mandatory reasons for the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority Bill for the year 2026; and referred it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau to proceed with the enactment procedures according to the rules.

The bill complements the Professional Work Regulation Bill, which concerns the licensing of vocational training service providers and the practice of the profession for graduates of its programmes and trainer accreditation, while the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority Bill concerns accreditation and quality control of these programmes, aligning them with labor market requirements.

The bill represents an important step in the development path of the education and training system, aligning educational outputs with labor market needs; in accordance with the economic modernization vision and the public sector modernization roadmap, by enhancing the role of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority to contribute to improving education quality at all levels, enhancing the efficiency of educational outputs, and boosting the competitiveness of graduates locally, regionally, and internationally.

The bill aims to unify the reference for accreditation and quality assurance procedures; integration of policies, improve the efficiency of the monitoring and evaluation system, enhance the performance of educational and training institutions, and strengthen their ability to comply with national and international standards, which positively reflects on the quality of education, the ranking of Jordanian universities in global classifications, and increases the competitiveness of graduates in the labor market locally and internationally.

The bill expands the scope of the authority's work to include the accreditation and quality assurance of general education institutions in all their forms, including public and private schools and kindergartens, alongside higher education institutions, and vocational and technical education and training institutions, within a unified national reference that enhances role integration and unification of accreditation and quality assurance procedures, in addition to organizing education and training pathways, enhancing transition feasibility between them, and increasing the reliability of the institutions at the local and international levels.
The bill grants the authority the powers to recognize non-Jordanian educational institutions, including schools and universities, equivalence of certificates and institutions issued by them, and certification of documents and certificates and institutions inside and outside the kingdom, enhancing trust in Jordanian institutions and supporting international recognition, through applying quality standards that match the best global practices.
