Khaberni - WhatsApp, owned by «Meta», is preparing to launch an optional paid subscription package aimed at providing a completely ad-free experience for Android users in Europe and the United Kingdom.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, which specializes in WhatsApp updates, the new subscription will enable users to browse the updates section without any advertisements, including the paid promotional channels that usually appear in the recommendations.
Once the subscription is activated, WhatsApp will not add any advertising content after viewing a certain number of status updates, and the promotional channels that content creators pay for will not appear for subscribers, making the app experience more pure and focused on what matters to the user.
The new package will be available optionally only in Europe and the United Kingdom, in compliance with the regulations of those countries, and will give users the same options available to Facebook and Instagram users: to continue receiving advertisements or to subscribe to get an ad-free experience.
This means users will have full control over their updates section experience by enabling or disabling advertisements through the paid package.
Users can subscribe to the ad-free package through in-app purchases via the Google Play store, with the option to cancel the subscription at any time in the same way.
WhatsApp mentioned that activating the subscription may take up to 15 minutes after the transaction, while the price of the package is expected to be about four euros, although the price may change before the official release and may vary depending on the country and account status within the Meta accounts center.
Meta has not yet determined whether this package will include all its apps or will be a separate package just for WhatsApp, leaving the possibility open for different prices for each platform.
