Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Environment signed a cooperation agreement on Sunday to manufacture metal containers and hanging waste baskets for distribution in public places, parks, forests, and public gardens, aiming to enhance the infrastructure for waste management and to reduce random waste dumping.
The agreement, signed by the chairman of the Greater Amman Committee Yusuf Shawarbeh and the Minister of Environment Ayman Sulaiman, aims to enhance cooperation and coordination between the municipality and the ministry to implement the executive program of the cleanliness strategy and to reduce random waste dumping for 2026-2027, to preserve the environment and spread environmental awareness in the community about the phenomenon of random waste dumping in public places, roads, parks, gardens, tourist and archaeological sites, and enhance the infrastructure for waste management.
Shawarbeh said that the municipality is working on improving the level of cleanliness through the executive program of the cleanliness strategy and reducing random waste dumping, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with all state institutions to elevate the level of services provided to citizens.
For his part, Sulaiman praised the efforts of the Greater Amman Municipality to serve the city and its citizens, improve the level of cleanliness, and eliminate the phenomenon of random waste dumping to keep Amman clean. He noted that cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality in manufacturing and providing metal containers and waste baskets in public places across all provinces of the kingdom directly contributes to enhancing positive environmental behavior among citizens and reducing negative practices that affect the environment and public health.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the deputy chairman of the Greater Amman Committee Ziad Al-Reehani, the city manager Ahmed Al-Malkawi and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Omar Arabiyat.
