The Legend of the Team and the Voice of the Adhan on TV Kuwait Revokes the Citizenship of Sheikh Ahmad AlTarabulsi

Khaberni - The news of a decree to revoke the citizenship of 65 individuals has sparked wide controversy in Kuwait, especially since it included the name of the sports legend and preacher Sheikh Ahmad Khidr Al-Tarabulsi, the former goalkeeper of the Kuwait national team.

The Kuwaitis reacted to the publishing of the official gazette today (Sunday) decree number 4 of 2026, which includes the decision to revoke the Kuwaiti nationality of 54 individuals including Al-Tarabulsi, who they confirmed had carried the name of Kuwait high for many decades, not just as a player, but as a multi-achieving Kuwaiti icon:

He won the Gulf Cup and the Asia Cup, and was part of the team that qualified for the 1982 World Cup.

He achieved the World Cup for the military team and worked as a coach for the Kuwait national team.

He served as a colonel in the Kuwaiti army.

He played a prominent role in teaching the youth the Holy Quran.

For decades, the Adhan was raised through his voice on Kuwait's official television.

The Kuwaitis interacted with the news, as some went on to say that the issuance of the decision after more than half a century of belonging and contribution (1974 – 2026), came as a surprise, which prompted activists on social media to widely interact, confirming that Al-Tarabulsi's name will remain etched in Kuwait's memory and in the hearts of Kuwaitis who followed his journey.

Despite the decision, Ahmed Al-Tarabulsi dealt with the situation with wisdom, free from transgressions, and simply repeated an impactful recitation of the Holy Quran, maintaining his calm and dignity, as Kuwaitis have known him throughout his life.
