Shoman Forum hosts a scientific session on Responsible Artificial Intelligence and Literacy

Khaberni - The Abdul Hameed Shoman Forum hosts tomorrow, Monday at exactly 11:00 AM, a scientific session discussing the topic "Responsible Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence Literacy," and their roles in capacity building and achieving global impact, at the foundation's headquarters in Jabal Amman.

This session is part of one of the projects supported by the "Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation" initial funding fund. It aims to highlight the importance of responsible handling of AI technologies, and to enhance awareness and knowledge about them, contributing to empowering individuals and institutions to employ them ethically and effectively for development and communities.

The session hosts AI and robotics expert Dr. Cynthia Breazeal, who is one of the leading global pioneers in the field of social robotics and human-robot interaction. Dr. Breazeal is one of the pioneers who established the concept of robots that interact socially with humans, where she stood behind the development of the robot Kismet, one of the first robots capable of understanding human expressions and interacting with them.

The session addresses many main topics, among them, the concepts of responsible artificial intelligence and its ethical dimensions, the importance of AI literacy in education and capacity building, and the role of modern technologies in achieving a positive and sustainable global impact.

Dr. Breazeal currently holds the position of Dean of Digital Learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and she is also the founder and manager of the (MIT RAISE) initiative, which aims to promote AI literacy among children and youth, and build their capacities to keep pace with rapid technological transformations. During her scientific career, she has won two innovation awards in recognition of her research and practical contributions.

It should be noted that the session will be held in English, and it is open to the public including researchers, technology enthusiasts, educators, capacity builders, decision-makers, and everyone seeking a deeper understanding of the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of societies.
