Khaberni - As part of Arab University of Amman's commitment to developing advanced scientific research skills among graduate students and enhancing their ability to prepare high-quality scientific research with significant scientific, community, and professional impact, the College of Pharmacy organized a practical specialized workshop for Master's students in Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affairs titled: "Smart Scientific Publishing: From Research Idea to Ranked Academic Publishing," presented by Professor Dr. Rana Abu Haweij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy.
The workshop addressed the concept of smart scientific publishing and its importance in enhancing the quality of scientific research. It also highlighted the mechanisms of transforming a research problem into scientific outputs with significant impact, contributing to the development of scientific knowledge and enhancing drug safety in the fields of pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs. Besides, the workshop discussed the criteria for selecting suitable scientific journals for publishing, which includes the scope of the journal, impact factor, quality of scientific peer review, publishing requirements, and distinguishing between reputable scientific journals and indexed journals. The workshop also showcased strategies for increasing the chances of scientific research acceptance and transforming a research idea into a study with notable scientific and practical dimensions. It included a practical aspect during which the scientific and methodological standards for preparing and practically applying scientific research were demonstrated on examples from Dr. Abu Haweij’s research as a model to be followed in robust scientific writing style, focusing on the integrated structure of the research, evidence-based academic style, precise formulation of research components according to international standards, plus practical training on using specialized scientific databases to evaluate the solidity of scientific journals and choosing ranked and accredited journals from tier one, and training on the steps of submitting scientific research to one of the ranked scientific journals, including electronic procedures and mechanisms for dealing with scientific journal management systems.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the program students, where the scientific discussions and practical applications enhanced their awareness of the importance of strategic planning for the scientific publishing path and the development of their research skills in line with the requirements of contemporary scientific research and the academic and regulatory job market.
