Damascus dismantles cell involved in targeting security and army on the coast

Khaberni - On Saturday, the Syrian security forces succeeded in dismantling a "terrorist cell" known as "Saraya al-Jawad", during security operations carried out in the cities of Al-Haffah, Qardaha, and Jableh in Latakia province, according to the Ministry of Interior.

The ministry stated that the operations resulted in the arrest of Ghayath Mahmoud in Al-Haffah, who was responsible for manufacturing within the cell, and Jafar Sameeh Hassan in Qardaha, and Adham Ghayath Mahmoud in Jableh, all of whom were involved in targeting internal security forces and the Syrian army.

It added that explosive devices, weapons, ammunition, and bombs prepared for execution of acts threatening public security were seized.

The ministry confirmed the confiscation of the seized items and the referral of the detainees to the competent judiciary.

In March 2024, armed groups loyal to the ousted regime in the Syrian coast launched an attack that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of public security forces and civilians in Latakia and Tartous, prompting President Ahmad Al-Share' to form a fact-finding committee following accusations of violations against civilians.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, the government has been striving to enforce security in the country, while some groups persist in creating chaos and bearing arms, which the authorities handle firmly.
