Details of the Fire at Children of Egypt Hospital and an Important Statement from the Ministry of Health

Khaberni - Today, Saturday, a limited fire broke out around the "Children of Egypt" Hospital in the Sayeda Zeinab area in central Cairo, which civil defense forces were able to fully control without recording any injuries or affecting the hospital's operations.

Security sources told local media that the operations room received a report of smoke rising near the hospital, prompting civil defense forces, supported by three fire trucks, to immediately move to the scene, impose a security perimeter, and begin extinguishing and securing operations.

A storage for cleaning supplies
In turn, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, explained that the fire broke out inside a cleaning supplies storage located next to the hospital's outpatient clinic, confirming that it is far from the main building and does not pose any threat to the patients or medical staff.

Abdel Ghaffar stated in a statement that the electricity is working normally, and that medical services inside the hospital are regular and were not affected by the incident, highlighting that the civil defense forces quickly managed to control the situation.

Reviewing Safety Procedures
He added that the competent authorities have documented the incident and began investigations to determine the causes of the fire, along with reviewing the safety and security procedures within the hospital and taking the necessary legal and technical measures.

For his part, the Governor of Cairo decided to form an engineering committee to assess the extent of damage to the hospital building from the fire, and directed the prompt removal of the aftermath once the public prosecution and criminal investigation have inspected the site to state the causes of the incident.
