Khaberni - The Commissioner-General for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that the education of Palestinian refugees has faced increasing attacks over the past few years.
Lazzarini wrote in a post on the (X) platform today, Saturday, that more than 600,000 children in Gaza have been deprived of formal education for more than two years, noting that these children are living deep traumas amidst the rubble, and that returning them to a safe educational environment is a top priority for UNRWA because "failing to do so will only lead to more despair and extremism".
Lazzarini explained that currently, there are 65,000 children in UNRWA's temporary learning spaces in Gaza, in addition to nearly 300,000 other children receiving basic lessons in reading, writing, and arithmetic through digital platforms.
