Representative Captain Zuhair Mohammed Al-Khashman, the President of the Coalition of Centrist and National Islamic Parties in Parliament, referred to the supreme royal directives to restructure the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, as representing a qualitative transition in Jordan's security and military thinking and establishing a new phase characterized by long-term strategic planning, not partial or temporary solutions.
He explained that the royal message carried an accurate diagnosis of the nature of the challenges facing the state, and did not merely describe the threat, but presented a practical framework for rebuilding military strength on the bases of flexibility, integration, and qualitative superiority, in alignment with the radical transformations in the nature of modern conflicts, and the expansion of the battlefield concept to include cyberspace, technology, and cognitive domains.
He added that the focus on restructuring military organization, developing combat doctrine, and enhancing command and control systems cannot be read in isolation from a central goal of ensuring the Arab Army's ability to protect the national centers of gravity, safeguard the Jordanian sovereign decision, and maintain internal stability in a regional environment characterized by high levels of fluidity and uncertainty.
He noted that including cyber capabilities, drone systems, and artificial intelligence among the priorities of military construction reflects a proactive awareness of the nature of future conflicts, placing Jordan in a position of agency rather than receptivity, capable of swiftly adapting to composite threats, rather than merely reacting with traditional responses.
Khashman affirmed that redirecting the role of the Jordanian Center for Design and Development, and enhancing national defense industries, represent a sovereign and economic dimension no less important than the military aspect, for their direct impact in reducing foreign dependence, localizing knowledge, and building a national defense technology base that supports both the political and military decision-making process.
He concluded by mentioning that the Coalition of Centrist and National Islamic Parties in Parliament views these royal directives as a comprehensive national roadmap and will engage with them in parliament with high responsibility, through support, legislation, and oversight, to ensure proper implementation, establish the principle of professionalism and governance, and preserve the status of the Jordanian Armed Forces as a fundamental guarantor of state security and stability.
