Syria Begins Oil Extraction from Recently GovernmentControlled Fields

Khaberni - The Syrian Petroleum Company has started extracting oil from recently government-controlled fields and transferring production to Homs and Baniyas refineries.

The official Syrian Arab News Agency "SANA" reported on Saturday, quoting Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, the Director of Corporate Communications at the Syrian Petroleum Company, saying that the company's technical teams have commenced extracting oil from the newly liberated fields and transporting it to the Homs and Baniyas refineries as part of a comprehensive plan to return these fields to operation.

He added that the ongoing operations aim to restore the fields to their technical condition at the moment of liberation, expecting that production will reach about 100,000 barrels of oil per day within four months, which will positively reflect on the energy system and support the national economy.

The agency noted that this comes after the Syrian Army recently regained control over several oil fields in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces, which were then handed over to the Syrian Petroleum Company in preparation for their rehabilitation and reintegration into the production process.
