Khaberni - The Winter Asian Games, which were scheduled in Saudi Arabia in 2029, have been postponed "to a date to be determined later", according to an announcement made on Saturday by the Olympic Council of Asia and the Saudi Olympic Committee in a joint statement.
The announcement mentioned an agreement to replace the current phase with "the hosting of several individual winter tournaments in the Kingdom, aiming to promote winter sports and build a base of practitioners and affiliates of these sports".
The Olympic Council of Asia said last August that preparations for the games were progressing "according to schedule", after South Korea and China emerged as potential replacements, in the face of disapproval from environmental organizations about hosting them in Saudi Arabia.
