Khaberni - The military media director Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hiyari stated that the royal directives to restructure the army differ from the issue of reactivating national service.
Al-Hiyari added, in statements on Saturday, that the royal directives aim for an immediate and direct restructuring of the armed forces through a comprehensive strategy and a roadmap to bring about a structural transformation that includes the development of all units and formations of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
He pointed out that the directives emphasized the need to adjust the armament of the armed forces to match modern systems, developments, and technologies, in addition to developing military education and enhancing military command and control systems by land, air, and sea.
He noted that the king's message for restructuring the Arab Army comes at a time when regional events are accelerating, adding that His Majesty the king does not want the armed forces to wait or lag behind in keeping up with military technology.
Al-Hiyari explained that the required change should also include creating a strategic reserve for the Jordanian Armed Forces amidst the crises and tensions the region is experiencing.
His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed the preparation of a strategy and a roadmap to achieve a structural transformation in the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army over the next three years, in a message to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
