Jordan The King directs the restructuring of the Arab Army

Khaberni -  King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed the preparation of a strategy and roadmap for achieving structural transformation in the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army over the next three years, in a message to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Here is the text of the message:

"Honorable Brother Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hnaity, may God protect him

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army,

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you,

I send to you and to all brave men and women of our Arab Army, stationed all over, greetings of pride and esteem for their dedicated efforts in defending this homeland and protecting its assets.

Honorable Brother,

Our Arab Army is a national institution cherished by every Jordanian, and its members, officers, non-commissioned officers, and private soldiers continue to serve Jordan with courage, dedication, and loyalty, bravely confronting any threat to its borders and the security of its citizens, setting the greatest examples in courage, loyalty, and commitment.

In our commitment to enhance the capabilities of our Arab Army and to continuously develop its potential and tools, we direct you to prepare a comprehensive strategy and a clear roadmap to achieve structural transformation in the armed forces within the next three years, enabling them to face current and future threats and the rapid changes and emerging challenges imposed by technological advancements and the expansion of operational environments.

It is necessary to consider the requirements for updating and restructuring our armed forces so that their organizational structure is in line with the requirements of combat within different operational environments, ensuring mastery of modern warfare techniques and the effective deployment of their capabilities in a manner consistent with the nature of modern hybrid and unconventional warfare.

Honorable Brother,

We aspire to have agile, flexible, and qualitative armed forces, continuing to prepare them and equipping and training them in modern combat methods to maintain a high level of efficiency, professionalism, and combat readiness to achieve strategic deterrence, according to a precise and studied combat doctrine for each branch, characterized by simplicity, effectiveness, and practical applicability through optimal use of defensive and offensive capabilities and developing training and arming plans that serve operational plans.

We want our armed forces to have the capability to protect their strategic and operational centers of gravity and to employ modern defense technologies in partnership between its specialized directorates, research centers, and local and friendly defense industries, achieving an effective, reliable, and secure command, control, and communications system.

We must work to achieve superiority and the ability to compete in one or more areas of operational combat, placing the field of defensive and offensive cyber operations as one of the priorities that can be invested in and building capabilities for competitiveness, employing drone technology and artificial intelligence at all levels of the armed forces units.

Our armed forces must possess sufficient reserve forces equipped with various necessary capabilities to efficiently execute their operations according to the tasks and duties assigned to them in operational plans, in addition to considering the best employment for border guard units and gendarmerie and special police units from the Public Security Directorate in operational plans, and the logistics support system must be enhanced to cover all levels and ensure the fluidity of supply lines and sustainability.

To achieve a qualitative leap in our capabilities in the defense industries and keep up with the rapid developments in this field, it is essential to redirect the role of the Jordanian Centre for Design and Development and enhance its capabilities to become a nucleus in research, development, and manufacturing of advanced defense technology, according to the latest international specifications, with the aim of meeting various national needs in this sector.

This strategy must also include clear steps for restructuring the funds and investment companies affiliated with the armed forces and their administrations, in line with the highest professional standards of governance and management.

Honorable Brother,

Based on the above, I look forward to being provided with this strategy and roadmap, for the purpose of adopting and immediately starting its implementation. I am fully confident that you, along with our brothers in the Jordanian Armed Forces – The Arab Army, are capable of taking on the responsibility of developing and updating our grand army, achieving the sought-after qualitative leap, ensuring our armed forces remain, as we have always known them, at the forefront of military forces, distinguished by their efficiency, keeping pace with various changes and modern developments. Know that you will find from me all the support and bolstering for your efforts in development and modernization, elevating our army and protecting our dear Jordan.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.

Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein
