Khaberni - After a state of widespread controversy caused by accusations circulating on social media, the Egyptian artist Mahmoud Hegazy broke his silence, denying the allegations of verbal and physical assault on his wife and affirming his commitment to silence to preserve the privacy of his family and the welfare of their son.
Hegazy said in a post through the "Stories" feature on his Instagram account that he prefers not to discuss his personal life, considering it "not a matter for public discussion, respecting the presence of his son Youssef between him and his wife."
He added that what is happening, in his words, comes in the context of attempts to pressure him to give up the decision to ban his son from traveling abroad.
Wide controversy
The Egyptian artist stressed that he will not delve into the details of the ongoing disputes outside their legal framework, emphasizing that he will remain silent and will only speak for clarification purposes, away from any defamation or media escalation.
Meanwhile, the incident sparked widespread controversy on social media platforms following the filing of an official complaint by Mahmoud Hegazy's wife, Rana Zarrouq, a resident of the United States, accusing him of physical assault, which resulted in several bruises and her hospitalization. The complaint bore the number 11955 for the year 2025, minor offense prosecution of First and Third October.
A medical report, reported by local media, indicated that the wife suffered multiple injuries including the nose, left forehead, arm, and left eye, with a recommendation for a specialist consultation in ophthalmology and eye surgery.
Family disputes
In a legal development, Rana Zarrouq returned to the marital home by decision of the competent investigative authorities, after leaving it previously due to disputes. This comes in the context of a judicial dispute concerning the travel of the couple's son, Youssef, who is less than three years old, where the court had previously approved Mahmoud Hegazy's request to ban the child from traveling to the United States with his mother.
Mahmoud Hegazy married Rana Zarrouq in 2023, days after their official engagement announcement, following about two years after his separation from actress Asma Sherif Mounir.
