Khaberni - Today, the first quantities of the oil derivatives grant provided through the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen arrived in the governorate of Socotra, for powering electricity in the districts of Hadibo, Qalansiyah, Morey, and Allamah, and will include power stations across all Yemeni governorates.
The arrival of the oil derivatives grant to Socotra governorate to power electricity stations is part of the recently announced Saudi developmental and economic support package, which includes 28 development projects and initiatives valued at 1.9 billion Saudi Riyals.
The Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen had signed an agreement with the Yemeni Ministry of Energy and Electricity to purchase oil derivatives from the Yemeni oil company "PetroMasila," to power more than 70 electricity generation stations across various Yemeni governorates, enhancing the capabilities of Yemeni institutions, supporting the stability of the electricity sector and the continuity of services, and powering vital national facilities to stimulate economic recovery and growth in Yemen.
The total quantity of the oil derivatives is 339 million liters of diesel and mazut, valued at 81.2 million US dollars, to power electricity stations across various Yemeni governorates, thus enhancing the efficiency of government institutions.
This also stimulates the Yemeni economy and has a positive reflection on improving the services provided to the Yemeni people by increasing the reliability of electricity in hospitals, medical centers, roads, schools, airports, and ports, and boosting economic and commercial activity.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen has provided grants for oil derivatives that included a grant in 2018 valued at 180 million dollars, as well as a grant in 2021 valued at 422 million dollars, alongside a grant in 2022 valued at 200 million dollars, in addition to the current grant for the year 2026.
