Khaberni - The Kingdom of Bahrain reiterated its supportive stance for the sovereignty, independence, stability, security, and territorial unity of Syria, noting that Syria is currently going through a delicate and difficult phase that requires coordinated and effective international support for refugee return, reconstruction efforts, promoting economic recovery, and achieving sustainable development for the benefit of the Syrian people.
The Kingdom of Bahrain also confirmed its full support and solidarity with the Syrian government based on Manama's conviction that Syria's stability and the restoration of its natural role in its Arab and international surroundings are fundamental to the security and stability of the region.
This was stated in a speech delivered by the advisor Sumaya Al Aliwat on behalf of the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, during a participation in a Security Council session regarding the political and humanitarian situation in Syria,
In the same vein, Bahrain follows the positive steps taken by the Syrian government to support the political reform process in the country, which includes holding the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, in addition to holding legislative elections last October, considering this as a political path led by the Syrians themselves and ensuring their full participation in shaping the future of their country, according to the statement by the counselor Sumaya Al Aliwat.
It also praised the recent constructive steps taken by the Syrian government aimed at prohibiting any discrimination or exclusion based on ethnicity or language. The Kingdom of Bahrain confirmed that fostering coexistence, safeguarding the freedom of religion and belief, respecting societal diversity, and achieving justice are essential elements for building a state capable of achieving stability and comprehensive development.
The Kingdom of Bahrain appreciated the efforts of Saudi Arabia in contributing to lifting sanctions on Syria, and also appreciated the response of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union to alleviate the sanctions imposed on Syria, contributing to supporting the recovery and reconstruction process.
On the humanitarian level, the Kingdom of Bahrain renewed its support for the efforts made by UN agencies and international partners to provide humanitarian assistance in Syria, including providing care and support for Syrian displaced persons, and working on the voluntary and safe return of refugees to Syria, in accordance with international standards.
