Khaberni - A recent report issued by the Israeli human rights organization “B'Tselem” reveals testimonies from released Palestinian prisoners documenting their exposure to harsh violence practices inside Israeli prisons, including systematic sexual assaults and sexually themed threats.
The report indicated that the prisoners were subjected to severe beatings and humiliation during interrogation and detention periods, sometimes resulting in serious injuries and burns due to deliberate physical abuse.
The report also highlighted a policy of deliberate starvation, through severe rationing of water and food amounts, sometimes limiting food to spoiled bread and cucumbers, with only one bottle of water allowed per day.
It also pointed to the deprivation of prisoners from medical treatment and health care, along with harsh living conditions including water scarcity and lack of minimal hygiene requirements.
In the same context, the Media Office of the Prisoners affiliated with Hamas movement confirmed that these practices are part of a systematic torture policy practiced against Palestinian prisoners.
The office called on the international community to urgently act to hold the occupation accountable, stop the ongoing violations, and provide the necessary protection for the prisoners.
The Israeli occupation jails are subject to repeated human rights criticism over the violations against Palestinian prisoners, where continuous reports document the use of physical and psychological humiliation, deprivation of food, water, and medical treatment, constituting a breach of international law and fundamental human rights.
