Öcalan Kurds in Syria should not be a tool in the hands of Israel

Khaberni  - The leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Abdullah Öcalan, said that "Kurds in Syria should not be a tool in the hands of Israel or other countries to establish an independent state".

Öcalan proposed that the Kurds should reach an agreement with the Syrian state, provided that "local democracy" is achieved (meaning that the powers of municipalities and regional administration are in the hands of the people themselves).

He mentioned that he can talk with the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, to persuade him to join under this solution.

Öcalan also stated that he asked the Kurdistan Workers' Party in 2025 to lay down their weapons, and they have complied by 70%.

In order to gain full control of the situation and to convince everyone, Öcalan  emphasized the importance of opening "communication channels" for him, expressing his readiness to resolve the issue, and affirmed his capability to control the Kurdistan Workers' Party and the situation in Syria , provided he is given a chance for dialogue, meeting, and taking steps towards gaining his freedom.

It is noted that these statements by Öcalan were made in the full record of the meeting of the members of the Turkish Parliament with him on Imrali Island, which took place on November 24, 2025, and was published today, Saturday, on the official website of the Turkish Parliament.
