Earthquake of Magnitude 52 Strikes Western Turkey

Khaberni  - An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck western Turkey early Saturday, centered about 4 kilometers from the town of Sindirgi in Balikesir province, according to preliminary data from the Kandilli Observatory.

The earthquake occurred at precisely 00:24:37 local time on January 24, 2026, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was determined to be near Ishiklar, an area belonging to the town of Sindirgi.

Residents of the major cities in the area, including Istanbul and Izmir, felt the earthquake, and as of now, there are no immediate reports of damage or injuries in the minutes following the earthquake.
