The Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission stressed the necessity for all licensed practitioners of electric vehicle charging activities to adhere to the pricing approved by the Authority, and not to provide any cash offers, in-kind offers, or discounts on the sales tariff.
The Authority, in an official letter issued by it, clarified that the periodic inspection rounds it conducted revealed non-compliance by some service providers with the set pricing, which constitutes a violation of the regulations governing the electric vehicle charging sector.
The Authority emphasized that it is the responsible entity for regulating and monitoring this sector, and that compliance with the approved pricing aims to ensure fairness, competitiveness, and consumer protection, confirming that any violations will be detected and necessary legal actions will be taken in accordance with the relevant legislations.
The Authority also indicated that this measure is based on the provisions of Articles (9) and (14) of the electric vehicle charging activities instructions, warning that non-compliance will expose the violators to legal accountability.
