Connection between hair loss and serious diseases

Khaberni - Dr. Kira Kernas, a specialist in hair, dermatology, and reproductive health, indicates that hair loss often occurs when infected with the human immunodeficiency virus and tuberculosis.

According to her, the process of hair loss and growth continues throughout a person's life and depends on many factors, including health status. She clarifies the relationship between hair loss and some serious diseases.

She points out that hair loss is linked to multiple factors such as stress, sleep quality, nutrition, and diseases of various organs and systems. She emphasizes that hair loss is not the only or main symptom of any serious disease.

She says, "Hair loss most often occurs when affected by diseases such as leukemia, human immunodeficiency virus, and tuberculosis. However, in these cases, other more serious symptoms appear, such as fever, severe itching, weakness and fatigue, weight loss, frequent colds, swollen lymph nodes, and the appearance of specific skin spots or bruises."

She adds that if the patient does not suffer from any other symptoms besides hair loss, and the doctor does not find any warning signs during the medical history and examination, the problem is likely due to other causes. Therefore, it is advisable to regularly consult a hair specialist to maintain healthy and beautiful hair.
